After much anticipation, MomFilter.com launched today! From Cookie magazine editors, Pilar Guzmán and Yolanda Edwards, MomFilter.com shares anything “from a slam-dunk dinner… to genius fashion finds at Target, to the hindsight that can only come from a philosophical mother of grown children.”
Visually, the site is framed by understated, impeccable design; saturated photography sharing intimate glimpses into childhood; crisp typography; and a clean, simple flow. The style integrates perfectly with the content – a well-curated, revolving and delightfully accessible range of articles for parents with discerning tastes.
Curious Jane and MomFilter connected through the coincidence of a goody-bag retrieval mission. A few weeks later, we were asked to provide at-home projects for MomFilter’s Kid DIY section. We are excited and honored!
We will be sharing a new project each week – designed for children as young as three (with a little grown-up help) and still entertaining for boys and girls as old as ten. We aim to keep the supplies simple, using around-the-house materials and easy-to-find items. We end each week’s how-to with a short supply list for the upcoming activity. These are things you can easily pick up in your weekly errands (office supply store, grocery store, Target, etc). Our first project? Thaumatropes – I think of them as spinning stories, like Bea’s (age 9) Haring-esque figures dancing in the snow (pictured here) and Livvy’s (age 7) hungry rabbit eying the dinner table (shared in our how-to).
New projects go up every Friday, so you have a little something to help keep young hands and minds busy on weekend mornings while you have your coffee. We hope you will enjoy and visit often!
