Building Workshop
Love to build or never tried it? Come see what fun it is! Our goal is to find the value in learning from what works – and what doesn’t work – to make our projects stronger and better.
In our Building Workshop, we think with our hands. We build; it falls; we learn; we build it better – it works! This class is specifically designed for our Curious Jane girls (3rd-6th grades), and is safely guided by an experienced instructor.
We use everyday household materials to delve into a variety of projects to learn about patterning, project-planning, fastenings, materials, and strength and structure. Some of the projects are short and quick, designed to introduce the girls to obstacles in building, like material limitations and time constraints. We also dive into larger collaborative projects that may include bridges (like the functioning model suspension bridge pictured below), a model city, igloo geodesic dome, and gear mechanisms. The girls are encouraged to problem-solve creatively as they work through the unique challenges presented with each project!
