This is a fun science experiment where you mix things to produce a chemical reaction. Combine hydrogen-peroxide with dish detergent and yeast to make a spouting, oozing foam that looks like toothpaste shooting up out of a tube! The yeast acts as a catalyst (a helper) that quickly breaks apart the molecules, removing the oxygen from the hydrogen-peroxide very quickly, and creating something called an Exothermic Reaction! That means it creates both foam and heat.
1. Stand the bottle up in the center of the cake pan. Put the funnel in the opening of the bottle. Add 3-4 drops of food coloring to the peroxide, then pour the peroxide into the bottle.
2. Add a small squirt of dish detergent to the bottle... Now for the exciting part!
3. Pour the yeast mixture into the bottle and quickly remove the funnel. Watch the reaction! Foam will form in the bottle and bubble right out the top. Like toothpaste for an elephant!
